• Interview two or more companies,
• Make sure your company has an excellent reputation,
• When selecting your mover make sure to get a licensed and insured company. Keep in mind the cheapest rates may mean complete opposite of the company's reputation (a licensed company must be bonded and insured, it's employees must have workers compensation insurance, which isn't cheap). Therefore, those companies that post their rate as a selling point is most likely to be a fraud.
• Once you select a few companies to get quotes from, make sure to be consistent when describing your wishes with each company. This way will be easier to compare quotes.
• Describe all goods to be moved and mention items required special handling (such as piano, Jacuzzi, etc.)

Long distance moves are charged by the size or weight of the shipment, materials and other extra services required (packing/unpacking etc.). Long distance moves with in California - regulated by California Public Utilities Commission (PUC). These moves can only be charged by the weight of the shipment and NOT by its size (cubic feet). However, moves out of California are regulated by Federal Department of Transportation (DOT). DOT allows for both ways of charges as long as they are described to customers ahead of time. Storage services: customers that require a short term storage (90 days or less), can get resonably priced, secure and climate controlled storage.
